이번 레모네이션에서 수상한 소감이 어떠신가요?
이번 공모전은 제가 평소에 시도하지 않았던 새로운 장르에 도전하며 작업한 만큼, 그 과정 자체가 저에게 큰 의미가 있었습니다. 뜻깊은 결과로 이어져 더욱 기쁘고 감사한 마음입니다.

2. 당선 음악 작업 과정
레모네이션 음악을 작업하면서, 가장 신경 쓴 부분이 있다면 어떤 부분이었나요?
6분이라는 비교적 긴 길이 안에 기승전결을 담아내는 구성이 가장 중요했습니다. 이번 작업은 영상 제작에 앞서 음악이 먼저 완성되는 방식이었기 때문에, 이후 영상과 트랜지션이 자연스럽게 어우러질 수 있도록 효과음과 분위기 전환에 많은 신경을 기울였습니다.

3. 레몬사운드와의 작업 과정
레모네이션 당선 후 최종 완성까지 레몬사운드와 함께했을 때 가장 인상깊었던 순간이 있다면 어떤 점일까요?
미팅 과정에서 세세한 부분까지 원활하게 소통하며 작업을 진행했던 점이 무척 인상 깊었습니다. 다양한 의견을 주고받으며 결과물의 완성도를 높이기 위해 함께 노력했던 과정이 기억에 남습니다.

음악 세계

1. 음악 시작 계기
아티스트님이 음악을 시작한 계기는 무엇인가요? 음악을 계속해야겠다고 결심한 계기가 있다면 궁금합니다.
음악을 전공한 가족들 덕분에 어릴 때부터 자연스럽게 음악과 가까운 환경에서 성장할 수 있었습니다. 처음에는 연주자로서 무대에 서며 느꼈던 설렘이 음악을 계속하도록 이끌어 주었고, 지금은 제가 작곡한 음악이 무대나 영상에서 구현되는 순간의 기쁨이 큰 동기 부여가 되고 있습니다.

2. 작곡 과정
음악을 작곡할 때 어디에서 영감을 받아 어떻게 작업을 시작하시나요? (그림을 그리거나 긴 산책을 하는 등)
영상음악 작업에서는 주로 전달받은 컨셉안과 시놉시스를 세밀히 분석하며 영감을 얻는 경우가 많습니다. 연출 의도와 분위기를 상상하며 마치 그림을 그리듯 음악을 구상하는 과정을 선호합니다.

3. 음악 스타일
음악을 작곡할 때 아티스트님만의 음악적 스타일이 있다면 어떤 것인가요?
작업을 시작하면 몰입감을 유지하기 위해 가능한 한 중단 없이 곡을 완성하려 노력합니다. 음악적 흐름이 끊기지 않도록 집중하며, 스토리텔링이 뚜렷한 곡을 만들어 나가는 것이 제 작업 스타일의 특징이라고 생각합니다.

특정한 작품에 국한되기보다는, 지금까지 좋아했던 영화, 음악, 책의 문장과 장면들이 차곡차곡 쌓이며 저만의 세계를 형성한 것 같습니다. 좋아하는 작품을 반복적으로 감상하며 깊이 몰입하는 편인데, 이러한 경험이 제 음악 작업에도 자연스럽게 녹아들었다고 생각합니다.

5. 인상 깊었던 순간

지난 음악 인생을 되돌아봤을 때, 지금 가장 기억에 남는 순간이 있다면 어떤 순간일까요?

고등학교 시절이 가장 기억에 남습니다. 이전까지는 혼자 음악을 해왔지만, 예술고등학교에 진학하며 협업의 즐거움을 처음으로 경험했습니다. 음악적으로나 개인적으로 크게 성장할 수 있었던 소중한 시기였으며, 그때 만난 친구들은 지금도 저의 가장 든든한 음악적 동료들입니다.

6. 음악가로서의 삶
음악가로서 살아갈 때 가장 어려운 부분은 무엇이라고 생각하시나요?
프리랜서로 활동하다 보면 정해진 틀 없이 유동적으로 흘러가는 일상 속에서 스스로 규칙을 세우고 안정적인 생활 패턴을 유지하는 일이 가장 어렵게 느껴질 때가 있습니다. 하지만 그러한 과정을 통해 자신만의 작업 리듬을 찾아가는 것이 또 하나의 배움이라고 느낍니다.

7. 앞으로의 목표
음악가로서 앞으로의 목표가 있다면 어떤 것인가요?
언젠가 많은 사람들의 추억 속에 머물 수 있는 음악을 만들고 싶습니다. 시간이 지나도 기억될 수 있는, 감동을 줄 수 있는 음악을 작곡하는 작곡가로 기억되고 싶습니다.

함께 음악 인생을 살아가고 있는 동료 음악가들에게 하고 싶은 말이 있다면 말해 주세요.

저에게 레몬사운드는 “새로운 창구”입니다. 제 음악을 더 넓은 세상과 연결해 주는 소중한 기회라고 생각합니다.

Winner Introduction

Could you introduce yourself briefly?
Hello, I’m composer Kim Yeonjin. I create music for various visual media, including dramas, films, and animations, and I’m also the leader of the crossover band Jakdang Gongmo.

1. How do you feel about winning?
What were your thoughts upon being selected as a winner in this Lemonation?
For this contest, I challenged myself with a genre I hadn’t explored before, which made the process itself highly meaningful for me. I’m even more delighted and grateful that it has led to such a rewarding result.

2. Creative Process
What was the main aspect you focused on while creating your Lemonation piece?
Since the piece was relatively long at six minutes, crafting a coherent narrative structure with a beginning, middle, and end was crucial. For this project, the music was completed before the visuals were produced, so I paid particular attention to sound effects and transitions to ensure they blended seamlessly with the video later on.

3. Working with Lemon Sound
Was there a memorable moment during the working process with Lemon Sound?
I was especially impressed by how smoothly communication flowed during our meetings. Exchanging ideas and collaborating to enhance the final product’s quality remains a memorable part of the process.

Artistic Vision

1. Starting in Music
What first inspired you to start in music, and was there a moment when you knew you wanted to pursue it professionally?
Thanks to my family, who are all musically trained, I grew up in an environment naturally surrounded by music. Initially, the excitement I felt while performing on stage as a musician motivated me to pursue this path, and now, I’m driven by the joy of seeing the music I compose come to life in performances or on screen.

2. Composition Process
When you compose, where do you typically find inspiration, and how do you begin the process? (For example, sketching ideas or taking long walks.)
When working on music for visual media, I often draw inspiration from thoroughly analyzing the provided concept briefs and synopses. I prefer to imagine the director’s intent and atmosphere as if painting a picture, and that forms the foundation of my composition

3. Musical Style
Do you have a distinct musical style that you identify as your own?
Once I begin working on a piece, I strive to complete it without interruptions to maintain a sense of immersion and continuity in the musical flow. I focus on creating tracks with a strong narrative element, which I believe is a defining aspect of my style.

4. Favorite Influences
Are there any specific works of art - movies, music, animation, paintings, etc. - or creators that have particularly influenced your artistic vision? Are there any non-musical sources that inspire you?
Rather than being influenced by a single work, I think my world has been shaped by a collection of movies, music, and books I’ve loved over time. I tend to revisit works I enjoy, immersing myself deeply in them, and I believe those experiences naturally seep into my music.

5. Unforgettable Moments
Reflecting on your musical journey, is there a particular moment that stands out as especially memorable?
The most memorable period for me is my high school years. Until then, I had always worked on music alone, but attending an arts high school allowed me to experience the joy of collaboration for the first time. It was a valuable time during which I grew significantly, both musically and personally, and the friends I made then are still my most reliable musical partners today.

6. Challenges as a Musician
What do you find most challenging about being a musician?
As a freelancer, one of the hardest challenges is setting my own structure and maintaining a stable routine in the midst of a flexible and ever-changing lifestyle. However, I also see this process of discovering my rhythm as another form of growth.

7. Future Goals
What are your goals moving forward in your music career?
One day, I hope to create music that lingers in people’s memories. I want to be remembered as a composer who creates works that stand the test of time and move people emotionally.

8. Message to Fellow Composers
Is there anything you would like to share with fellow musicians on a similar journey?
This question feels like a promise I’m making to myself as well. To my fellow composers walking the same path, I want to share a message of encouragement: let’s support each other and continue to grow together. Even when the journey feels exhausting or challenging, I hope you never lose faith that every experience brings you closer to your goals. I look forward to all the connections I’ll make through my future work. I hope to exchange ideas with more people and broaden my perspective on music.

9. What is Lemon Sound to You?
If you were to describe Lemon Sound in one sentence, what would they be?
To me, Lemon Sound is a “new gateway.” I see it as a valuable opportunity to connect my music with a wider audience.
